Mattress To Go seeks fabric donations

Mattress To Go Making Pillowcases for the Turning Point Shelter – Seeks Fabric Donations

Township, MI – Mattress To Go in Shelby Township is making a donation of much needed pillowcases to the Turning Point shelter in Mount Clements, and they are asking for your help.

“This is the latest of our local charitable projects,” stated Jeff Scheuer, owner of Mattress To Go.  “We’ve previously donated pillows and mattresses to Turning Point, and now they are in need of pillowcases.  So, we are asking for donations of excess fabric that people may have at home.  We will then sew this fabric into unique queen pillowcases and provide them to Turing Point.  It’s a great project, plus we’re upcycling unused fabric that people may have around the house.”

Scheuer is making queen-sized pillowcases, so it is important that any material donated be at least 40” x 45”, and a woven cotton fabric is preferred.

“We’re looking to make at least 100 pillowcases in February and we’ll keep sewing as long as people continue to donate fabric.  My wife, who is an excellent seamstress and published knitting author, has already arranged for some donations to get us started.”

Mattress To Go is located on the northeast corner of 23 Mile and Van Dyke, at 51260 Van Dyke in Shelby Township.  They will accept donations during their normal business hours of Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.; and Sunday, Noon - 5 p.m.  Contact owner Jeff Scheuer at (586) 580-3605, or email at if you have any questions.
