The Firm & Soft Cushion Firm is a bit of a throwback mattress. It's 2-sided and flippable, and it has a comfort that is contouring yet firmly supportive. This model is a premium model from Made-In-Michigan Capitol Bedding, a third-generation premium mattress manufacturer. It rates as a medium cushion firm on our plushness scale, with a comfort that is neither hard nor overly soft.

The quality of materials is premium. The layers of polyfoam in the quilt is at least 1.5# in density, and the deeper upholstery layer is 1.8# in density - these are very high quality and durable materials. There's even a layer of compressed cotton felt and a densified fiber pad directly atop the innerspring unit on each side, helping to contribute to a much more traditional comfort that offers firm and solid support, but doesn't manage to be too hard.

Support is provided through a more traditional LFK open-ended sensory arm double offset innerspring unit from HSM. This also helps contribute a bit of buoyancy along with strong support. And there's also a strong edge reinforcement system built around the perimeter of the mattress to help extend the overall sleep surface.
