Mattress To Go Donates During The Coronavirus Outbreak

March 18, 2020 – Many people are being asked to self-isolate during the coronavirus outbreak and some of these people may find it difficult to get the things they need.

To continue our tradition of assisting those in our local community, Mattress To Go is immediately instituting a few new programs to help those around us who are in need.

Woman’s Life Chapter 911 Hygiene Pantry
Mattress To Go will serve as a drop-off location for the Woman’s Life Chapter 911 Hygiene Pantry. This pantry collects hygiene donations such as bar soap, toilet paper, full size shampoo and conditioner, body wash, dish soap, facial tissue, and dryer sheets. The pantry services Shelby Township, Utica, Washington Township, Romeo and Sterling Heights.

Macomb Food Program
Mattress To Go will serve as a drop-off location for the Macomb Food Program. Suggested food items to donate include tuna fish, canned meat, hearty soups, canned spaghetti or pasta, dry and canned beans, canned fruit, rice, noodles, powdered milk, pancake/baking mixes, cereal, oatmeal, granola bars, and peanut butter and jelly (in plastic jars). This pantry provides immediate relief for those in need of food through a network of over 50 pantries and hunger relief organizations in Macomb County.

Cell Phones For Soldiers
While not specifically a local organization, Mattress To Go has been a donation center for Cell Phones For Soldiers for over a decade. This organization provides discounted calling cards for our troops stationed overseas, and with current travel restrictions this is impacting many in our large local military community. Bring in your old cell phones and we’ll send them off to Cell Phones For Soldiers, where it will be recycled for the precious metals inside, and the funds realized from that will be used to purchase these calling cards for our overseas troops.

Mattress To Go is located at 51260 Van Dyke Ave. in Shelby Township, MI, and has store hours of 10am – 8pm, Monday through Friday, and 10am – 6pm on Saturday. If you’re dropping something off and wish to stay in your car, simply pull up to our front door and honk your car horn and we’ll come out and gather up your donations for you.

We thank you for considering donating to one of these charitable groups. It’s always important to consider those who are in need, and especially so when times are a bit more difficult.
